Information on the Scholarship

  • The scholarship is for a student(s) in need who lost a parent in their senior year and will be heading to college in the fall.
  •
  • The amount of the scholarship(s) will depend on the number of "candidate(s)" we receive (it could go from $500 to $4,000). The scholarship will be disbursed directly to the College/University, thus the "candidate(s)" would need to be registered at a college/university.
  •
  • We are hoping to identify student(s) in Fairfax County, but if there is no one in this particular situation in any Northern VA County and Washington DC area, we will then open the scholarship(s) to anyone who lost a parent while in high school and this is their senior year.
  •
  • We collect the money through fundraising activities sponsored by Fairfax Fundraisers therefore the funds provided to the candidates would be tax-free.

  • The deadline to submit the application would always be on June 11 of any particular year.

  • The application should be submitted to "pbellinischolarshipfund@gmail.com" via your high school career counselor.

    Creation of the Scholarship

The scholarship was created in honor (and memory) of Pedro A. Bellini by his children, Fiorella and Gianni Bellini, and his wife, Adriana G. Rota. “Gianni and Fiorella felt very lost when we lost our dad. My father's employer denied the "educational allowance" (for college) that my brother Gianni (and I eventually) would have had would our father have been/stayed alive.” (says Gianni). As a way to celebrate my dad's life, we want to reach out to another student that is in our situation. In creating this Fund, we also recognize that something else valuable can come out of this search, and that is helping students in this particular situation find each other. We have good friends, but no one could really know or relate to what we were going through. Getting to know and meeting others in the same boat would have been comforting to us. We would like to award a scholarship to a senior in need of financial help who has lost a parent this high school year and will be heading to college in the fall. Pedro loved and believed in education and he wanted to give his children the best education possible.
